Arturo Fuente Sun Grown Chateau Fuente – Cigar Review

You may have recently read our April issue of Stogie Press where we featured Oldie but Goodies. One of the classic cigars I recall smoking decades ago was the Arturo Fuente Double Chateau. I really enjoyed that cigar it had such wonderful flavor. Tonight we review the Arturo Fuente Sun Grown Chateau Fuente which were sent to me by Famous Smoke.  Having loved the Double Chateau I was looking forward to sampling this short 4 1/2 x 50 beauty of a robusto.

The Chateau Fuente, like the other vitolas in the line, is wrapped in cedar and there is black footer band that signifies it as the Ecuadorian sun grown variety. The band is classic Fuente with a thin black line at the bottom.  The wrapper is medium brown in color with only a few noticeable veins. The foot of the cigar shows that is well packed with some dark Dominican leaf and has a slight floral aroma to it.

After clipping the cap the Chateau Fuente had a fairly open draw with a touch of sweetness. I am looking forward to firing it up, as the preliminaries were spot on so far. I warmed the foot gently with my torch lighter rolling the stick through my fingers. As I took the first puffs, my palate is greeted with a sweet citrus flavor with a bit more on the tang than the sweet. The burn is perfect as I would expect from Arturo Fuente and the ash is a light grey color that holds on tight through the first inch or so before falling.

There is a gentle burn coming through on the retro-hale that lasts a short time and then gives way to a nice fruit flavor blending well with the early sweetness. The draw has been perfect and the ash picked right back up and holds on through the rest of the smoke.

The flavor is balanced throughout the remainder of the smoke with a long fruit finish on the palate.

Overall the Chateau Fuente was a delightful medium body cigar that can be easily enjoyed by any cigar smoker and the price point of $5.00 makes it an easy buy to add to your humidor – demonstrating that a premium cigar does not have to cost $10.00 as the FDA would have it. With the impending FDA regulations looming you may want to stock up on these gems. Famous Smoke Shop offers A. Fuente Cigars Here

I have also enjoyed the Chateau Fuente with a Saturday morning coffee but I would also suggest a nice aged sipping rum too.

We thank Famous Smoke Shop for the samples.
