Enki Cigars Habano Maduro Torpedo
I recently received a couple of samples from Enki Cigars the other day. Enki Cigars is based out of Miami FL , they are a boutique cigar company that produces 2 blends, one with a dark 7 year aged Habano wrapper and the other Nicaragua Connecticut wrapper. Both blends are Puro Nicaragua and are available in 3 vitolas:
Today it was Enki time, I had my Enki Card and this fabulous Habano wrapped Nicaraguan Torpedo.
Examining this stick you can see it is a well made cigar, it has a beautiful rich brown velvet wrapper, the scent of the which was sweet. As I clipped the head and tasted the pre-light draw it was sending notes of sweetness and raisins. I fired it up and paired this with an early evening cup of black java. The initial aroma was that of cocoa and the raisin flavor was present in the mouth coating smoke.
It had a perfect burn and related draw. The light grey ash held on for almost two inches. Approaching the second half, I detected a hint of cinnamon especially on my lips. You know the flavor, like that sweet cinnamon toast with your Sunday morning breakfast.
That flavor continued until about the last 3rd, and there was a slight bitterness that entered for a brief moment during that journey. The final 3rd is where I noticed some extra strength and a flavor change to roasted nuts. It was a heavenly and quite unexpected. I smoked it down to the nub as I really enjoyed the finish and wished it could have lasted longer.
According to their website; “Enki is the perfect blend of character and flavor. A robust, Cuban seed, Nicaraguan puro with just the right amount of smoothness and complexity. After countless trials, we named our creation Enki after a god in ancient culture of the same name. His name translates in English to “Lord of the Earth”, an allusion to the 7 year aged, Dark Habano wrapper chosen for this masterful blend. This is a medium bodied, well balanced cigar with flavor that can best be described with one word, divine.”
I have to agree with them whole-heartily. Great Stick, I will be getting more of these at my local shops. Now i need to smoke that Toro, but I think I will let it rest some more in its new humid home.
