Nomad Therapy Habano Cigar Review

Nomad Therapy Habano

Fred Rewey A.K.A. “The @godfadr”, has put out some fine cigars these days and most recently he has offered all of us cigar smoking fiends, a little therapy. No, he is not practicing psychology or religion, but he has reached into his proverbial box of tricks and blended three new cigars known as the “Therapy” line. You may have read our review of the Therapy Connecticut back in January and learned that there are three blends in this line:

  • Connecticut
  • Habano
  • Maduro

Today we continue our review of the line with the Therapy Habano, which like each of the Therapy blends, is available in 2 vitolas; 4 1/2 x 50 and 6 x 60. Fred sent me some samples of the 4 1/2 x 50, earlier in the year. I suppose Fred felt I needed just a little Therapy, but after smoking a couple of these I think some more Therapy is in store for me. The good thing about living in Florida, is that the Nomad line is carried in local ABC Fine Wine and Spirits shops throughout the state, so if i need more Therapy, I know where to find it.

Like each of the cigars in the Therapy line, the band is simple with the Nomad logo centered in the middle of a white background with the word Nomad underneath. Nomad Cigar Company and  @godfadr is printed on the side.  The logo color of the Nomad Therapy is Reddish Brown (Rosado).

The Nomad Therapy Habano  uses a sweet fermented  Ecuadorian habano rosado wrapper that provides a perfect cloak for the Habano Jalapa Binder  and  Nicaraguan Filler. The habano blend offers an enticing, spicy cocoa, pre-light aroma on the foot. The wrapper is satin smooth and has a tinge of red hue in it. It really is a beautiful leaf. After slicing the cap, the fairly open cold draw triggered my taste buds, with notes  of  earth and leather.

Once fired up, the Nomad Therapy Habano is quick to deliver some decent pepper on the first few puffs joined with a butter undertone. I must say, after a long day of yard work, in the hot Florida sun, this is just the therapy I needed. The ash is salt and pepper in color and has solid look to it as it rests on a thin char line.

As the pepper tones down, butter fills the palate mixed with just a sprinkle of chocolate. Spice and cedar fill out the profile as it burns into the second half.

The strength meter is telling me this is about medium, a perfect cigar for the middle of the afternoon. Smoke production has been full for most of the near perfect burn and when the ash fell a decent burn cone was present. There was a wave that developed as it approached the band, but a small touch up corrected it and the burn proceeded flawlessly while delivering a pleasant sweetness with a syrupy aroma near the end.

Overall, the Nomad Therapy Habano  Robusto was a fine medium strength and flavorful smoke. It is a cigar that any cigar lover would enjoy and would certainly pair well with a creamy espresso, root beer, or an evening cordial.
