E.P. Carrillo – La Historia

It’s not every day that I smoke a cigar and can honestly say the manufacturer’s description, if it is posted, lives up to what I sense upon my palate. Today I chose the E.P. CarrillLa Historia  6 7/8 X 54 E-III vitola.

The La Historia is a boxed pressed cigar, constructed from Nicaraguan filler and an Ecuadorian binder wrapped in an exquisite Mexican San Andres wrapper. They are manufactured in the Dominican Republic. The presentation in the box is inviting and the azure blue band is eye-catching.  The layout of the cigars using a separator, and weaved with a matching azure blue ribbon  shows great pride in this cigar. Even the label is a work of art with the signature “Perez Carrillo” on the secondary band.

I could go on and write about the La Historia and what I tasted but I would only be repeating what E.P. Carrillo already posted on their site.

Superior crafted box-pressed cigar with a smooth dark espresso-bean colored wrapper. The smoke is rich and full with dark chocolate, leather, black pepper, and coffee notes balanced with a creamy lingering finish.

This exactly sums up what I experienced.  Now, what they did not mention, was what a perfect burn this cigar had which only added to the smoking enjoyment. The ash was a nice white on the outside encasing a dark grey inside.

The only complaint I have is, the ash fell just before I removed the label. I so wanted to take it down more, but as you see, it recovered even after the ash fell and maintained another fine burn to the nub.

Ernesto Perez-Carrillo – You have a fine stick here and hope others will enjoy it as well as I did.

You can get these at many fine shops including The Mancave Cigar Lounge in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
