Crux Ninfamaniac Dark – Rough Cut Cigar Review

Just “Can’t Get Enough” – that is the tag line for the Crux Ninfamaniac cigar.

Crux Ninfamaniac Dark

Last year I had the pleasure of bringing you an in-depth review of the Ninfamaniac natural, and today I would like to introduce you to her darker sister, the Crux Ninfamaniac Dark.

As the Crux Cigars website notes:

The Crux Ninfamaniac and Ninfamaniac Dark pay homage to a classic Cuban Ninfa, but with a distinctive twist. The Ninfamaniac has a tapered cap and foot. They are the only true ninfa 7 x 33 in regular production by any manufacturer in the U.S. In fact, achieving the perfect Ninfamaniac vitola takes an extraordinary combination of skill and craftsmanship. Produced by a single buncher and formed on Cuban mats by only two rollers, they are an example of the highest standards set by Crux Cigars.

The make up of the Crux Ninfamaniac Dark is a splendid blend of:

  • Wrapper – Nica Habano Viso Jalapa
  • Binder – Indonesian
  • Filler – Habano Esteli

It comes in only one vitola a tapered  7 x 33 ninfa, but you read that already.

The Crux Ninfamaniac Dark comes packaged in 30 count boxes and retails for about $6.00 per cigar.

As you will see and read, you should not judge this cigar by its size, because it is full of flavor and has excellent burn qualities.

Cigar Review Notes

  • Wonderful fermented aroma – sweet and spicy
  • Dark rough mottled wrapper
  • Tight draw to start, gotta get her going here
  • Once the cone foot burns she opens up
  • You are greeted with some yummy espresso to start the journey
  • Simple ash holds for a tad than falls
  • Draw is little tight but the smoke is filling the palate
  • The burn is even throughout
  • The espresso is joined with some spice
  • Earthy capparis spinosa (caper) enters the mix – you have to eat these to know what I mean
  • Citrus notes begin to formulate
  • Cocoa making its way into the mix both in flavor and aroma
  • Finishes with a toasty aroma and a splash of spice wrapped in cocoa
  • Medium to Full Strength

Overall the Crux Ninfamaniac Dark was an excellent cigar that lasted just shy of 90 minutes. It was packed full of leaf, burned slowly, and offered non-stop palate pleasure – Can’t Get Enough.  I have to say I enjoyed the dark over the natural but that is just personal preference as they are both fine cigars.
