La Aroma de Cuba Noblesse Coronation Cigar Review

Noblesse

I recently  walked into the humidor of my favorite Detroit area cigar shop – Don Yeyo’s Cigar Factory – and asked the typical question; What’s New?  Steve, the manager on duty that night pointed out the La Aroma de Cuba Noblesse. The packaging alone grabbed my eyes, with its double tray box and neatly arranged specimens of craftsmanship laid in perfectly and gently adorned with a violet ribbon. I picked one up, and even through the cellophane, I could see the sheen on the wrapper.  I was sold! I took my new-found friend back to the seating area to relax and enjoy what will be solid 90 minutes of pure tobacco enjoyment.

La Aroma de Cuba is a product of the Ashton Cigar Company and are one of my favorite cigar brands. The Noblesse was introduced last year  as a 6.5 x 52 Toro with a limited production of 3000, 24 count boxes. This year they decided to add an additional 5.5 x 50 vitola named the “Regency” and added the name “Coronation” to the toro. Both the Regency and Coronation are limited to  2500 boxes of 24 each. Like the other blends in the La Aroma de Cuba line, the Noblesse is made at My Father Cigars S.A. owned by the Garcia family.

Examining the Noblesse you cant help but notice the silky smooth and shiny Ecuadorian habano wrapper. It does have some noticeable veins on it. The remainder of the blend includes Nicaraguan criollo and habano binders and fillers. Running it across my  nose I pick up a wonderful  blend   of chocolate  ad spice   on the foot and the a sweet tobacco aroma along the barrel.

The Noblesse is  adorned with a beautifully ornate primary band that adds to the already gorgeous look of the cigar. There is a secondary band right below that identifies it as the Noblesse.  A pale blue satin band finishes off the foot.

Well, enough talking about the look, lets see how it performs. I chose to use a punch to open it up.  The dry draw was perfectly restricted was as ,delicious as the aroma with notes of chocolate and spice along with a touch of black pepper on the lips.

Spice and pepper hit you dead on once you fire it up and the chocolate notes find a way to break through after a few puffs. Soon after there are notes of cedar and dark espresso that mix into the profile. Having smoked a number of Cuban cigars overseas the name La Aroma  de Cuba is apropos as the aroma is very floral early in the burn.

After an inch of burn, the flavor  is further enhanced with a peanut note.  It is clear that the Noblesse will be a multi-dimensional full flavor sensation. The smoke has smoothed out as the pepper faded and there is a sweetness building and a touch of citrus enters. The ash is solid and grey in color  resting on a medium char line. Sadly there is a slight wave that develops. I leave the wave alone to see if it finds a way to straighten out.

After two inches into the burn the chocolate and spice mix re-emerges. So far I would say the Noblesse is solid medium in strength but growing. The ash held tight for almost 3 inches before falling just under the  second band. The wrapper sheen increases throughout the journey. The wave did fix itself without help.

A touch of bitterness enters after the ash fell but lasted only briefly as the aroma begins to shift from floral to a floral and nut mix and more of the nut flavor fills the palate.

As it moves into the final third the spice picks back up and the strength is now a medium plus. A final unexpected cherry flavor delight enters close to the nub.

The Noblesse is an excellent cigar and worth the price.  I paired it with water during the review but did purchase another the next evening and paired it with a Cabernet which added some nice berry notes to the profile. Overall it was a solid 90 minute flavorful smoking experience.  I feel  most cigar lovers would appreciate this as the strength was not overpowering. At $16.00 it may be one to enjoy on special occasions, vacations, or holidays, treating your palate to something very special. I purchased the cigars for this review at Don Yeyo Cigars in Dearborn Michigan.   I also purchased the Regency and have yet to sample it.
