Time ticks away for 2018 and I have to say it has been an amazing year of cigar sampling and reviewing. Today we would like to introduce the next 5 candidates for our top 25 Boutique cigars of 2018.
Don’t forget to tune in at the stroke of midnight December 31 to see the final rankings.
La Barba Ricochet (Previously Primitivo) Corona
The La Barba Ricochet was a spectacular cigar and a welcome back to the party for Tony Bellotto. It was filled with a complexity of core and nuanced flavor and aromas from foot to nub. The burn and ash were precisely what I try to bring attention to in my reviews.
Southern Draw Cedrus – The Hogan
This Southern Draw Cedrus – The Hogan is by far the best product out of Southern Draw Cigars to date. Five years in the making, it lives up to everything the company pledges to deliver. The robust and balanced flavors along with excellent burn kept me intrigued from foot to nub.
Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust – Sin Compromiso Selección No. 5
The Sin Compromiso cigar is just as Steve Saka described it – complex and flavorful with shifting notes and aromas through the almost two hours of smoking pleasure. It had a pristine burn from foot to nub. I have to say, I had to go find some Chicory to know what it tastes like and yes that is what the bitterness is in the profile.
DAV Cigars Aristocrat Robusto
The DAV Cigars Aristocrat Robusto had some unique and delicious flavors with an excellent finish of nut and chocolate. A black cherry note dominated the profile, but not so much as to mask the other nuances, which added to the pleasure.
Foundation Cigars The Tabernacle Havana Seed CT No. 142
Coming off the heals of the #1 Boutique Cigar of 2018, the Tabernacle Havana Seed CT. No. 142 was another spectacular cigar from Nick Melillo and Foundation Cigars. This cigar was filled with palate pleasing flavors and aromas that will entice you to come back for more, so you might as well buy a box.
