Cigar Review: Hiram & Solomon Treaty – Rated 95

Hiram & Solomon Cigars recently released one of their newest blends to the market known as the “Treaty”. The cigar is crafted exclusively to Celebrate the historic once in a life time treaty signing and mutual recognition between the Most Worshipful Prince Hall of Georgia and Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Georgia by MW Donald C. Combs Grand Master of Free and Accepted Freemasons for the State of Georgia and MW Corey D. Shackleford, Sr. Prince Hall Grand Master of Free and Accepted Freemasons for the State of Georgia.

The Treaty is crafted in the Dominican Republic at the PDR factories by Abe Flores who is also a member of the Elite Pro Cigar Association of Dominican Cigar Manufacturers.

The company notes:

“The Treaty cigar is s unique cigar for a momentous occasion of that nature that will never happen again (as quoted by the Honorable MW Corey D. Shakleford) Watch the video below.”

The company describes the blend as:

  • Wrapper – Royal Corojo
  • Binder – Undisclosed
  • Filler – Undisclosed

Available in one (6 x 52) Toro vitola, The Treaty comes packaged in 10-count boxes and has an MSRP of $14.00/cigar.

For this review I sampled 3 of these cigars which I received from the company for the purpose of reviewing on Stogie Press.

Pre-Light Examination

The Hiram & Solomon Treaty sports a reddish brown slightly gritty wrapper that has a just a few veins running through it. It exhibits a mild sheen but not what I would describe as oily. The cigar is solid and firmly packed from head to foot. A well applied cap finishes the presentation.

A single large band adorns the Treaty. It uses a black and gold motif and proudly displays the seal of the Grand Lodge of Georgia and the of the Treaty signing. Between the two is the name “THE TREATY”

Running the Treaty along the nose, I picked up a light baking spice note along the barrel while the foot exuded notes of musty earth.

I used The Baller from CigarMedics to open the cap, which always gives me a perfect cut to start the journey. A few cold puffs greet the palate with a continued musty earth and a spicy red pepper note.

Using my single flame torch, I warmed the foot to a an even orange glow and drew in the first puffs of floral and pepper smoke. Follow along as burn the Treaty to ash.

Final Analysis

The Hiram & Solomon Treaty is an excellent addition to the company’s growing portfolio and tribute to Masonic Lodges across the Country. This is a cigar that is first and foremost, solidly constructed as evidenced by its amazing solid pearly white ash. That is just the start. When it comes to flavor, it offered a core of floral notes joined with pleasant nuances of flavors and aromas. I especially enjoyed the evolving nutty aroma along with the fruit and cream notes that balanced the floral. Pepper notes joined the start and then re-emerged deep in the second third to keep the palate interested. There was a slight bitter note after the long ash dropped but eventually faded into a natural sweetness. This is a box buy. I rate this a 95.

Point Deductions: (-1) Mild Wave in Burn; (-1) Some Bitterness deep in the second third

Bonus Points: (+1) Buy a Box; (+1) Extreme Ash; (+1) Pleasant and consistent across Multiple Samples
