The Warfighter Cigars .50 Cal Field Maduro is a bold and inviting blend that is a just a smidgen away from a Nicaraguan puro:

  • Wrapper – Habano Maduro (Nicaragua)
  • Binder – Habano (Nicaragua)
  • Filler
    • Habano (Ometepe, Nicaragua)
    • Habana (Jalapa, Nicaragua)
    • Columbia

The .50 Cal Field Maduro is available in 4 vitolas and comes packaged in 20-count army green boxes.

  • Robusto (5 x 52) MSRP $169.00/box
  • Toro (6 x 52) MSRP $189.99/box
  • Double Corona (7 x 52) MSRP $209.99/box
  • Rocco (6 x 60) MSRP $249.99/box

According to the company’s website – ‘Every box in the set has a different quote from a famous Warfighter on the bottom–in case you collect stuff like that’.

Pre-light Examination

The Warfighter Tobacco .50 Cal Field Maduro is a dark brown maduro wrapped cigar that has some noticeable veins, a decent amount of marbling in the leaf, and is finished with a simple cap. The cigar is packed solid and feels heavy in the hand.

There is single band that adorns the cigar, using the company’s logo in brown ink centered in the middle of a tan background. The phrase “.50 Cal” is printed on the side of the band.

A pungent fermented leaf aroma is detected along the barrel while the foot exuded notes of nut and baking spice.

I sliced the cap right above the shoulder with my double blade cutter and proceeded to give it some cold draw puffs that were perfectly restricted and delivered notes of light tang and pepper.

As with all cigars sampled for a review, it was time to burn this to ash. I sampled two .50 Cal Field Maduro Double Coronas for this review.

  • Initial notes of coffee and cream grace the palate
  • Medium grey ash forms on top of a thick and wavy char line
  • Sadly, both samples started to canoe early in the burn and required a touch-up
  • Cedar nuances fill in the profile along with a fruity aroma
  • Extremely smooth smoke moving through the first third
  • Ash fell early and revealed a flat but centered burn cone
  • Wave picks up again but seems to want to find its way this time
  • Butter and a mild bitterness starting the second third
  • Chocolate notes enter to brighten the profile and keep my interest locked on
  • Raisin and nut nuances join the mix
  • Midway into the burn, spearmint enters in both flavor and aroma
  • Touch of spice fills in the profile
  • The burn is much better and a sweetness enters in the final third
  • Slow burning cigar
  • Syrupy aroma fills the air in the lounge
  • Finishes with an increased spice
  • Medium in strength
  • Total Smoking Time was 1 hour and 45 minutes

Overall, the Warfighter Tobacco .50 Cal Field Maduro Double Corona was a spectacularly complex cigar that offered a plethora of favor notes and aromas throughout its long burn. I was especially enticed by the spearmint notes that entered midway. From a construction perspective it started with a mild canoe that required a touch-up and a few extended waves throughout the burn. The flavors and aromas say this is worth a fiver.

Point Deductions: (-2) Mild Canoe; (-1) Needs Touch-up; (-1) Medium Grey Ash; (-1) Flat but Centered Burn Cone; (-1) Needs a few Re-lights; (-1) Jagged Burn

  • Enjoyed your review and pretty much replicates my experience with this stick.
I have smoked about five of them and reviewed one myself and find it to be consistently complex and uniquely flavored, but usually needs the touch up.
While the way it burns leaves something to be desired, I alway enjoy this stick.
