District Court Denies Public Health Groups Motion to Intervene in Lawsuit

BREAKING CIGAR NEWS

The Cigar Rights of America (CRA) reports:

Today, the District Court for the District Columbia rejected the motion of six public health groups to immediately intervene in the premium cigar industry’s joint lawsuit against the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The six groups, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, the American Hearth Association, the American Lung Association, the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, and the Truth Initiative, filed their motion on Monday requesting that the Court grant them Public Health Intervenors status, which could have allowed them to use the industry’s lawsuit to pursue their own complaints against the FDA’s regulatory plan. The Court will reconsider the issue if there are new developments.

Keep the pressure on the FDA and Congress and Senate to stop the regulation of Premium Cigars.
