Cigar Lifestyle: No Joke Smoke 2024 – All in da Ohana – By Kalani Matsuura

The 15th annual No Joke Smoke 2024 dinner was held on 4/6/24 and hosted by Kalani Matsuura from Mokuleia Cigar Company. The theme this year was All in da Ohana, a throw back to a movie in the 1980’s regarding family life in Hawaii.

Helping us celebrate the dinner was Ryan and Holly Rodriguez, the owners of Ohana Cigars. NJS guests felt extremely special as this was Ryan and Holly’s second time attending No Joke Smoke. Ohana cigars even donated branded ashtrays, Ohana Mo’olelo cigars and Ohana Chee Pono cigars for our guests to win.

Featured Ohana Cigars:

  • Mo’olelo
  • Pulse Maduro
  • M13
  • Toasted Marshmellows
  • Left Hand Cigars Lefthander
  • Ohana Nui Aloha

Giving Back

One of goals for No Joke is for our guest to give back to the community. Our guests donated monetarily around $500 and 1400 lbs of canned goods to The Hawaii Food Bank. The cigar community was very gracious and in return won fantastic prizes. The grand prizes were 4 Siglo humidors worth over $1000 each from Siglo Accessories in Hong Kong.

No Joke Smoke was made possible with the support from Bernie Leong of Havana Club Honolulu, David Suzuki of Urbane Cigars, Keane Tanaka of Aloha Tobacco, Rob Domingo of Nui Kealoha for the awesome food, Mo and Rayna Morris for being my photographers, Wai Kai Experience for the venue, Events International for the beverages, Don Baduria for the sound system, Desiree Razon for working hard at the check-in table, Chris Weber for helping with Foodbank collection, Markus Yamabe, Gunther Weamire and Kyle Matsumoto for setting up and to all the friends who helped breaking down after the event. A big mahalo to all my guests who attended and making this a successful dinner.

Ryan and Holly were able to reconnect with our guests and also meet new ones. All who attended enjoyed spending time together as one big ohana. The dinner was festive with amazing cigars, food, beverages and prizes. Now it’s time to plan next year’s event.
