Cigar News: Casdagli Cigars to Debut Expansion of Brothers of the Sabre at InterTabac Dortmund 2024

Casdagli Cigars has announced the expansion of its Brothers of the Sabre line with two new additions:

  • The “Epicurist” line, honoring General Antoine Charles Louis de Lasalle of France
  • The “Vater” line, paying tribute to Field Marshal Joseph Radetzky von Radetz of Austria

These new cigar lines will debut at the InterTabac Dortmund 2024 trade show, held from September 19-21. Following the launch, both lines will be available as general production cigars to Casdagli Cigars’ distributors worldwide.

The Brothers of the Sabre line was first introduced at the PCA 2023 trade show, honoring generals from the Napoleonic Wars who were not only celebrated for their military achievements but also for their love of tobacco. Over the next four years, Casdagli Cigars will release two new generals’ lines annually, one representing France and the other from the coalition of Great Britain, Prussia, Austria, and Russia. Each general’s line features 2-3 vitolas, with carefully selected blends that capture the character and essence of the historical figures they commemorate.

The Epicurist line

The Epicurist line, dedicated to General Antoine Charles Louis de Lasalle, one of Napoleon’s most daring and charismatic cavalry commanders, continues this legacy. Lasalle, often seen leading his troops into battle with his pipe in hand, was known for his fearless and intelligent leadership.

The Epicurist line, blended by Hendrik Kelner Jr. at the KBF factory in Dominican Republic, delivers a refined smoking experience. Dominican fillers, a Dominican binder, and a Claro Colorado Ecuadorian wrapper create a creamy, nutty flavor profile with sweet aromas. The Figurado vitola features middle priming leaves, offering a smooth yet intense flavor, while the Petit Robusto blend is adjusted with higher primings to ensure a full-bodied and flavorful experience, ideal for shorter smokes.

The Vater line

The Vater line honors Field Marshal Joseph Radetzky von Radetz, a revered Austrian general and one
of the masterminds behind the Coalition’s victory over Napoleon at the Battle of Leipzig. Known
affectionately as “Vater” by his troops.

Radetzky’s line features a bold blend crafted by Hendrik Kelner Jr. It uses rare Zimbabwean tobacco, combined with fillers from the USA and the Dominican Republic, creating a deceptively strong cigar with rich dark chocolate and espresso notes. The Ecuadorian wrapper and Dominican binder enhance the depth of flavor, while the Petit Robusto showcases higher priming leaves for an even stronger yet smooth experience. The Figurado, meanwhile, offers an elegant smoke, perfectly fitting the Napoleonic theme of the collection.

Both the Epicurist and Vater lines share the same base leaves as their predecessors from 2023, but have been carefully adjusted in primings and percentages to best complement the unique characteristics of each vitola.

The complete description of both lines is as follows:

Jeremy Casdagli, Founder of Casdagli Cigars, comments on the expansion:

“With my love of both Napoleonic history and the premium tobacco world this ongoing project is a cause of great joy for me, from researching these great historical personalities and their love of tobacco to the selection of special vitolas and blends to honour them.“

All cigars come in 20 count natural cedar piano top boxes. The MSRP for the Figurados will be $21 and for the Petit Robustos $13,70 per cigar.

The lines will be available worldwide mid October 2024.
