Cigar News: Crowned Heads Moves to the Dark Side of Mil Días

Crowned Heads has announced its latest regular production brand release, “Mil Días Maduro,” in partnership with the TacaNicsa factory (Estelí, Nicaragua). The company noted that TacaNicsa are the makers of the original Mil Días brand.

Mil Días Maduro is a three-vitola collection with a blend described as:

  • Wrapper – Grade A Dark Connecticut Broadleaf
  • Binder – Habano
  • Filler – Nicaraguan (Viso Jalapa, Ligero Condega, and Seco Ometepe)

Crowned Heads co founder, Jon Huber noted:

“Mil Días Maduro is an extension to the original Mil Días brand that we announced back in July of 2020. What’s important to note, however, is that the Maduro blend is not simply a re-tread of the original blend where we just swapped the wrapper leaf out. Mil Días Maduro is an all-new blend from the outside to the inside that we felt was worthy of bearing the Mil Días brand name. We began working on the Mil Días Maduro blend with Eradio Pichardo in the summer of 2023. The result is a cigar with a flavor profile that is dense and lush, layered with notes of dark chocolate, baking spices, with excellent structure and a pepper component that is most noticeable on the retro-hale.”

Mil Días Maduro will make its global debut at the upcoming Total Product Expo (TPE) trade show to be held January 31-February 2, at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mil Días Maduro will be available in three vitolas:

  • Edmundo (5 3/8 x 52)
  • Sublime (6 x 54)
  • Tapes (4 7/8 x 56)

The brand will carry an identical suggested retail price range to the original Mil Dias ($10.95-$12.50), and will begin shipping in February 2024.

The company reiterated that Mil Días Maduro is ‘manufactured at the TacaNicsa factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, home to the original Mil Dias brand as well as the widely-acclaimed Juarez brand.’
