Adding to their already successful portfolio of cigars, El Artista S.R.L. released a new line known as the Cimarron. This new cigar was announced at the 2018 IPCPR in Las Vegas, NV and comes in two blends, a Mexican San Andres Maduro and an Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade. The filler
The Cimarron was inspired by the craggy, snow-packed peaks of the Cimarron Region of America that cast icy shadows over fertile valleys with raging rapids that splash through sparkling granite shores dotted with tall pine trees.

- Robusto (5 x 54) – MSRP $7.50
- Toro (6 x 50) – MSRP $7.60

Pre-Light Examination
The El Artista Cimarron Maduro is toothy dark brown wrapped cigar that has a decent oily sheen to it. It is finished beautifully with a triple cap. There are limited veins in the wrapper and the cigar is solid to the touch.
A single band adorns the Cimarron with an evergreen, gold and white motif. The band stands out nicely on the dark brown backdrop of the wrapper. The word golden “CIMARRON” is centered on a white background.
Running the barrel across the nose I picked up a slightly pungent aroma and the foot exudes notes of toast and fruit.
I used my Xikar double blade cutter to slice the cap and gave it a few cold draw puffs that delivered a rich earthy note.
Cigar Review Notes
- Light pepper, toast, and earth notes start the journey
- Light grey ash with medium char line
Touch of fruit enters to brighten the profile along with a natural tobacco sweetness- Ash is building nicely
- Cedar and dry cocoa powder notes join the mix with a hint of citrus
- Roasted nut aroma
- Ash fell after a long ash revealing a flat and centered burn cone
- Burns hot to touch moving into the second half
- An astringent note begins to develop but lasts only for a short time
- Cedar notes grow as it moves into the end of the second third
- Sweetness re-enters with a hint of cinnamon spice
- Moving into the final third there are woody notes filling out the profile with nuances of spicy almond and butter
- Smoke is hot in final
- Medium strength
- Total Smoking Time was 1 hour and 20 minutes
Overall, if you are looking for an economical flavor filled smoking experience, the El Artista Cimarron Maduro may well be one to add to your rotation. This cigar offers a complex flavor experience that will have your taste buds hitting on all cylinders. I have smoke three of these prior to the review and the only issue I have is that they do burn hot to the touch in the second half and the smoke does get a bit hot in the final but the flavors kept me going down to the nub. The ash on this is solid and long-lasting – dropping only twice in the journey. With a price set at $7.50 USD, this is an easy 5 pack purchase.
