One of the most talked about Aganorsa Leaf cigars this year has been the Supreme Leaf. This latest blend from Aganorsa Leaf is a Nicaraguan puro that is constructed of, and showcases, leaf that is 100% grown on the company’s farms in Nicaragua. In fact it is a line extension to the company’s original Casa Fernandez Aganorsa line, using the same all-Nicaraguan Aganorsa tobaccos from the original blend all wrapped in a vintage Corojo ’99 wrapper.
So, just for the record, the blend is described as:

- Binder – Nicaraguan
- Filler – Nicaraguan
Packaged in beautiful purple and orange, slide top, 10-count boxes, the Aganorsa Leaf Supreme Leaf is expressed in two popular box pressed vitolas:

For this review, I sampled two Supreme Leaf robustos that I purchased for the review.
Pre-Light Examination
The Aganorsa Leaf Supreme Leaf is an attractive cigar with its reddish brown and marbled Corojo ’99 wrapper. The cigar has fairly crisp box press format and is silky smooth to the touch. There are a few veins that run through the wrapper. A well applied triple cap and closed foot finishes the construction.
A single band adorns the cigar, using the same purple and orange motif as the box. The name “Supreme Leaf” is printed in script on the bottom of the band and the company’s logo is boldly printed in a cream colored circle above, with gold accents on the leaf image and arm band.
The pre-light aromas coming off the Supreme Leaf are quite enticing with notes of natural sweetness and baking spice along barrel and a slight pungent note with a hint of cocoa off the foot.
I sliced the cap straight across the shoulder and proceeded to take some cold draws that I would describe as spot on with restriction and offered notes of cocoa, nut, and pepper along with a growing citrus note as I drew on it a little more.
Wow! With such a fine pre-light experience, I was ready to fire this one up and start the journey. I reached for my double flame torch to warm the foot and drew in the first puffs of white peppery smoke that gets you on the nose and throat. Follow along as I burn this one to ash.
Cigar Review Notes
- Initial notes of white pepper hits the nose and throat
- Spicy morsel to start
- Full volume of smoke- no waiting to fill the palate on this one
- Salt and pepper flaky ash forms on wavy and thick char line
- “Niccups” hit me as this is looking to be a strong smoke
- Raisin and nuts fill in the early profile
- Walnut aroma wafts off the foot
- Nicely developing citrus notes
- Slight off burn develops that eventually required a touch-up with my single flame torch
- Strength moves up to full
- Creamy notes enter deep in the final
- Total smoking time was 1 hour and 30 minutes
Overall, the Aganorsa Leaf – Supreme Leaf was a flavorful cigar that started with enticing pre-light aromas and taste and kept building with an array of pleasant and balanced notes from foot to nub. The draw was spot on and offered a full volume of smoke right off the first puff. Be aware this is a full strength smoke. From a burn perspective, it developed an off burn after a wavy start and required a minor touch-up midway. This is worth picking up a five pack, if you can find them and I rate this an 89.
