Cigar Review: Black Label Trading Co. Eletto Short Robusto – Rated 94

Black Label Trading Company announced this year, the release of a new blend – the Eletto.

James Brown, creator of Black Label Trading Co. and partner at Fabrica Oveja Negra stated:

“Eletto or “Chosen One” is just as the name implies. I chose this cigar to be a tribute to celebrate the 10yr anniversary of Fábrica Oveja Negra. This cigar is a great representation of BLTC but also highlights the big, bold, Nicaraguan tobacco Oveja Negra if known for.

The Eletto is bold with an intense retro and layers of complexity. Notes of dark fruit are followed by waves of spice and star anise. As the name implies it is destined to be an instant classic.

The Eletto has a blend described as:

ELETTO is hand crafted in Esteli, Nicaragua at Fabrica Oveja Negra and is expressed in 3 different vitolas, each packaged in 20-count boxes:

  • Short Robusto (4.5 x 52) – MSRP $12.90/Cigar
  • Corona Gorda (5.25 x 46) – MSRP $12.40/Cigar
  • Toro (6 x 50) – MSRP $13.90/Cigar

For this review I sampled two of the Black Label Trading Co. Eletto Short Robustos which I received from the company for the purpose of reviewing on Stogie Press.

Pre-Light Examination

The Black Label Trading Co. Eletto is presented with a smooth, dark brown wrapper that exhibits very veins and a mice oily sheen. The cigar is packed well with no soft spots. Construction is completed with a triple cap including a fuse tail and an exposed foot.

A single band adorns the cigar. It use a black and white band that displays the name Eletto using a funky font style.

Running the cigar along the nose, I did not pick up much aroma along the barrel, but the foot offered a very enticing, sweet earthy note.

I sliced the well applied cap straight across the shoulder of the cigar and gave it some cold draw puffs that I found to be properly restricted and offered a medium level of black pepper.

Using my dual flame torch, I warmed the foot to an even orange glow and drew in the first puffs of pepper and fruit notes to start the journey. Follow along as I burn this one to ash.

Final Analysis

Pepper and fruit lead the opening of the Black Label Trading Co. Eletto, creating a lively start supported by a pleasant nutty aroma drifting from the foot. A light grey ash builds neatly above a slightly wavy char line, while the retrohale adds impressive depth—introducing rich molasses and cocoa to the profile.

In the second third, a subtle star anise note emerges, lending an exotic touch. Midway, the spice intensifies, bringing renewed energy to the palate. Creamy textures begin to smooth the profile, allowing the cocoa to deepen into a dark chocolate richness that carries confidently to the final draw. Balanced, layered, and evolving from start to finish, it’s a journey that rewards attentive smoking. I am curious to how the toro performs.
