The latest release from Black Label Trading Co. has hit the market. Known as the Super Deluxe, it is handcrafted at Fabrica Oveja Negra in Estelí, Nicaragua. The company notes that this is only the second release of this blend which was originally launched back in 2020.

In a press release, James Brown – Creator of Black Label Trading Co. and Partner at Fabrica Oveja Negra stated:
“Super Deluxe is the most requested cigar in BLTC history, so I’m very excited to bring it back. Th combination of Nicaraguan fillers and Mexican San Andres wrapper create a bold, dark and rich profile. The subtle spice blends with the dark fruit and sour star anise notes creating a long complex finish. This cigar represents what our consumers have come to love from Black Label.”
The full blend is described as:
- Wrapper – San Andres Maduro
- Binder – Ecuador Habano
- Filler – Nicaragua
The Black Label Trading Co. Super Deluxe is expressed in 3 vitolas, each packaged in 20-count boxes:
- Petite Corona Box Pressed (4.5 x 48) – MSRP $11.00
- Robusto Box Pressed (5 x 54) – MSRP $12.00
- Toro Box Pressed (6 x 50) – MSRP $13.00
You can find these at Select Black Label Trading Co. Retailers through the company’s website.
For this review, I sampled three of the Black Label Trading Co. Super Deluxe Petite Coronas, which I received from the company for the purpose of reviewing on Stogie Press.
Pre-Light Examination
The Black Label Trading Co. Super Deluxe Petite Corona is a smooth, crisp box pressed cigar that sports a dark brown wrapper with little to no veins. The wrapper has more of a matte finish as opposed to an oily sheen. The packing is perfect with just the right give when gently pressed along the barrel. A well applied cap finishes the construction.

A single black and silver band adorns the cigar with the bold BLTC cross logo in the center and the name Super Deluxe wrapped around the side to the back along with the company name – Black Label trading Co.

Running the barrel along the nose, I picked up light floral notes while the foot exudes enticing notes of nut and cocoa.
I sliced the cap straight across the shoulder of the cigar and gave it some cold draw puffs that I found to be spot on with restriction while offering a delectable butter note and just a sliver of pepper with some slight leather notes.

Final Analysis

The Black Label Trading Co. Super Deluxe Petite Corona journey begins with a subtle introduction of cocoa notes, accompanied by a delicate sweetness and a whisper of wood. As the cigar progresses into its first third, the distinct flavor of star anise gently emerges in the background, adding a layer of intrigue. By the second third, creamy butter notes enter the scene, seamlessly blending with a mild, warming spice that enhances the overall experience. Fruit nuances weave through the profile, bringing a harmonious complexity that ties all the flavors together. In the deeper part of the second third, rich caramel and nutty undertones come into play, further enriching the smoke. As the cigar enters its final third, the initial cocoa flavor evolves into a bold, dark chocolate note, leaving a satisfying and lingering finish. This is a box buy. I rate this a solid 96.
