Cigar Review: Cavalier Genève White Series Elegante – Rated 95

Introduced at the 2016 IPCPR, the Cavalier Genève White Series Elegante was one of two inaugural blends to hit the US market by the now familiar Switzerland-based Cavalier Genève. Company owner, Sebastien Decoppet has been producing quality and flavor filled premium cigars long before entering the US market and has been tantalizing the American palate ever since the 2016 trade show.

Pre-Light Examination

The Cavalier Genève White Series is cloaked in a dark tan habano wrapper that has just a few noticeable veins. The cigar is smooth to the touch and the packing is firm with just the right give. The roll was excellent with tight seams. The cigar is neatly finished with an expertly applied twist cap.

Cavalier Genève White Series Elegante

Like many Cavalier Genève cigars, it is adorned with a gold leaf diamond applied to the wrapper and also includes a white and gold band that proudly displays the company’s logo in the center. gold diamond and white band.

Running the barrel along the nose, i noted there was a mild spice aroma and the foot exuded enticing notes of butter, fruit, and pepper.

I used my CigarMedics Baller cutter to open the cap perfectly and gave it some cold draw puffs that I found to the nicely restricted and delivering notes of natural sweetness a gentle cinnamon spice and a touch of earth.

With my single flame torch, I warmed the foot to an even orange glow and drew in the first introductory puffs of natural tobacco sweetness and light spice. Follow along as I burn this one to ash.

  • Initial light offers natural sweetness and gentle spice
  • A firm light grey ash develops on top of a decent burn line
  • A mild earthiness rests in the background
  • Thick and full creamy smoke fills the palate off each puff
  • The ash fell in a small chunk revealing a flat but centered burn cone
  • I always enjoy burning through the gold diamond on Cavalier Genève cigars – Fun fact: Gold has no taste
  • Mild cigar so far with an added touch of dry fruit midway
  • Strength moves up to medium
  • Increased cinnamon spice notes and sweetness deep in second third
  • Cedar notes begin to develop in the final third with a continued sweetness
  • Mild to medium in strength
  • Total Smoking Time was 1 hour and 30 minutes

Final Analysis

While Cavalier Genève has greatly expanded their US portfolio over the past 7 years, the White Series is still a main stay for the company and a cigar that would describe as elegant. Its mild to medium strength makes it a perfect cigar for enjoying in the morning or even the last cigar of the day. Though not crazy complex, it does have a well-balanced array of notes including a distinct natural sweetness that pleased the palate throughout the journey. I very much enjoyed the cinnamon spice notes in both the pre-light and lit experience. There was just a mild jag in the burn but otherwise it was error free. This is a box worthy cigar and an excellent example of a fine Honduran based product. I would recommend this to be in any enthusiast’s rotation. I rate this a 95.

Point Deductions: (-1) Mild Jag in Burn

Bonus Points: (+1) Box Worthy; (+1) Pleasant and Consistent across Multiple Samples
