Back in 2016, the US FDA was working on releasing the deeming rules for regulating premium cigars in the country. The fear was real and many young cigar brands decided to fold up and leave the market so as not to risk any more investment that might have been lost if they were shut down. That same year, Dr. Lampert, the owner of Lampert Cigars formed a European venture known as “My Cigar Lab”. Years later, in 2021, he dipped his toes into the US market with new offerings.
One of two Inaugural cigars from Lampert Cigars Co., here in the US, is the LAMPERT 1675 Edición AZUL which has a blend described as:
- Wrapper: Ecuador
- Binder: Nicaragua
- Filler: Nicaragua (Condega & Jalapa) & Peru
The company notes:
This cigar blends the citrus notes of a high Peruvian priming (ligero) together with fillers grown, fermented and aged by the ORTEZ family in the Jalapa and Condega valleys. The combination of the five-year-old Peruvian Pelo de Oro with three and four aged fillers delivers a decadent, smooth and flavorful experience.
The Lampert Cigars 1675 Edición AZUL is expressed in 3 different vitolas, each packaged in 20-count boxes:
- Short Robusto (3 3/4 x 52) – MSRP $8.00
- Robusto (5 x 50) – MSRP $10.00
- Toro (6 x 52) – MSRP $12.00
The Bespoke Company, the company behind Casdagli cigars distributes Lampert cigars in the US.
Pre-Light Examination
The Lampert Cigars 1675 Edición AZUL exhibits a dark brown wrapper that has a fine oily sheen. The cigar has a decent firmness and seems to be well packed. There are a just a few minor veins running along the barrel. A well applied cap finishes the presentation.
A single band adorns the cigar. It use a white, blue (Azul), red and gold motif. The Lampert family shield is presented in the center along with the year “1675” just below. The name “Lampert” is printed in red on a gold background on top. The date represents the year the second family shield was granted to the family. The original was granted in the year 1593, which is the name of another Lampert blend.
Running the barrel across the nose, I picked up a pre light aroma of sweet and pungent fermented leaf while the foot had a mild earthy note.
I sliced the foot straight across the shoulder of the cigar and gave it some cold draw puffs that offered a peppery spice especially on the lips. This is also a slight nut in the background.
Using my double flame torch, I wared the foot gently to an even orange glow and drew in the first puffs of smooth cream and coffee notes. Follow along as I burn this one to ash.

Final Analysis
The Lampert Cigars 1675 Edición AZUL robusto was a moderately complex blend that started with smooth coffee an cream notes that had me interested on the first full volume puffs. The profile evolved well through the journey highlighting the Peruvian leaf used in the filler. I was even more pleased with the Dark Chocolate, Nut, and Caramel notes moving into the midway point. The construction was good, with just a mild jag in the burn. This is one that is box worthy and should be pleasing to an experienced enthusiast. I rate this a 94.
