Cigar Review: Rey De Cedro Habano BP Torpedo – Rated 93

At the 2025 PCA Trade Show, Erez Cigars introduced a new product line known as Rey De Cedro. The company noted that this was more than just a cigar, and goes on to state the Rey De Cedro embodies profound ideal freedom, integrity, and service—and stands as a tribute to enduring traditions and timeless brotherhoods. The cigars are rolled by elite artisans, each cigar honors the spirit of those who live with courage, commitment, and honor. For the discerning aficionado, this is not just a smoking experience, it’s a statement of purpose and pride.

The cigars are offered in 2 blends, a Maduro and Habano. For this review, I sampled two of the Habano varieties which have a blend described as:

  • Wrapper: Habano 2000
  • Binder: Corojo
  • Filler: Piloto Cubano and Ligero 98

It should be noted the Maduro blend has the same binder and fillers but instead of a Habano 2000 wrapper, it uses a San Andres leaf.

The cigars are expressed in two vitolas an the are sold in 20-count boxes (featuring a mix of 10 Habano and 10 Maduro).

  • 6 x 54 – MSRP $13.00
  • 4 x 60 – MSRP $13.00

For this review, I sampled two of the Rey De Cedro Habano BP Torpedos which I received from the company for the purpose of reviewing on Stogie Press.

Pre-Light Examination

The Rey De Cedro Habano Torpedo is draped in a smooth, dark tan, slightly marbled wrapper with a decent oily sheen. The cigar exhibited a decent give along the barrel. Just a few veins are noticeable but nothing to be concerned about even if veins are an issue to you.

Two bands adorn the cigar. The primary band is is green, gold and white die cut band that boldly declares the cigar as the Rey De Cedro. It also denotes that it was Established in 1972. The top of the band includes the word Culpable. A red silk band is placed on the foot.

Running the cigar across the nose, I picked up sweet fermented leaf notes along the barrel, while mild earth and cedar essences were noticeable off the foot.

I sliced the cap straight cross the shoulder of the cigar and gave it some cold draw puffs. I did feel the cold puff was a tad more open than I prefer, but we will see that leads us to. As far as flavor, there was a growing black pepper and a touch of sweetness before setting the flame to the cigar.

Using my single flame torch, I warmed the foot to an even orange glow and drew in the first puffs of what I can best describe as rye grain and pepper to start the journey. Follow along as I burn this one to ash.

Final Analysis

The Rey De Cedro Habano BP Torpedo delivers a thoughtfully layered experience, beginning with rye grain and pepper, then evolving into fruit, cedar, nut, butter, and ultimately dark chocolate. The progression feels natural and well-paced, with each third offering its own character while still contributing to a cohesive whole. The consistently smooth retrohale and the well-formed burn cone further highlight the craftsmanship behind the cigar.

There are minor construction quirks—a slight waviness early on and some heat creeping in during the final stretch—but neither issue detracts significantly from the enjoyment. The flavor transitions, particularly the buttery midsection and the surprise of dark chocolate in the final third, showcase a blend designed with intention and depth.

The cigars value lies in its complexity and refinement rather than brute strength or showmanship. It’s a cigar for those who appreciate nuance: shifting aromas, evolving sweetness, controlled spice, and a finish that leaves a memorable impression. While not flawless, it offers enough character and craftsmanship for enthusiasts who enjoy a dynamic, evolving profile.

Point Deduction: (-2) Burns a Tad Hot In Final
