Sinistro Cigars showcased at the 2023 PCA an additional cigar to their “Mr.” Line of cigars. Known as the Mr. Desflorado it is named after its Connecticut Desflorado wrapper that involves a precise and rare procedure implemented during the blooming phase of the tobacco plant. In this distinctive process, the uppermost pink flowers of the plant are deliberately removed prior to seed formation. The outcome of this technique is twofold: it deepens the shade of the leaf’s hue and infuses it with a significantly sweeter taste profile.

Complementing this wrapper, is the addition of an African Cameroon binder along with carefully selected fillers sourced from Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, and Colombia. This combination of elements results in a symphony of flavors that tantalizes the palate.
Mr. Desflorado joins its brothers (Mr. Black, Mr. Red, Mr. White, Mr. White Gold Edition) as a full production line for the company. The cigars are produced at Tabacalera El Artista in the Dominican Republic with a blend described as:
- Wrapper: Desflorado Connecticut
- Binder: African Cameroon
- Filler: Dominican, Colombia, Nicaragua
Mr. Desflorado is expressed in 3 different vitolas, each packaged in 20-count boxes:
- Robusto (5 x 52) – MSRP $10.00
- Toro (6 x 54) – MSRP $11.00
- Perfecto (6 x 56) – MSRP $13.00
I sampled 2 of the Mr. Desflorado for this review that received from the company for the purpose of reviewing on Stogie Press.
Pre-Light Examination
The Mr. Desflorado is a well constructed cigar with its beautiful golden tan wrapper that has a mild sheen and just a few noticeable veins. The cigar is firmly packed head to foot and completed with a simple cap.
Running the cigar across the nose, I detected baking spice notes along the barrel while the foot exuded notes of butter and floral.

Single band expressed in black and pink gold. Note the green leaves on the rose stem. That is a nice touch.

Once I opened the cap by slicing it straight across the shoulder of the cigar, I gave it some cold draws that I found to be spot on with restriction while offering notes of earthiness and a mild black pepper.

Final Analysis

The first light of the Sinistro Cigars Mr. Desflorado Robusto delivers a combination of pepper, fruit, and earth, creating an engaging opening, though there is a slight astringency early on. A bright white ash forms atop a medium-thick char line. As the journey begins to unfold, a growing creamy sweetness develops, and the blend settles beautifully deep into the first third.
Bright lemon-citrus notes emerge, keeping the palate refreshed and moist. Midway through the burn, the sweetness becomes more pronounced, revealing layered honeyed flavors that add depth and balance. Entering the second third, a mild burn issue develops but remains manageable without detracting too much from the experience.
As the cigar transitions into the final third, spice and pear notes take center stage, bringing a lively contrast to the earlier sweetness. A subtle touch of almond nuttiness adds another layer of enjoyment near the finish. The cigar burns a bit hot in the final stretch, but the flavor profile remains engaging through the conclusion.
