Today we offer the Stogie Press Rough Cut cigar review notes on the Crowned Heads Headley Grange cigar. My son Dominic, who lives in Nashville and has been known to play some decent guitar, picked me up some Crowned Heads cigars from a local shop, one of which was the Headley Grange I am reviewing today. Thanks Dom.
Built in 1795, Headley Grange is a three-story stone structure which was originally used as a workhouse for the poor, infirm and orphaned. But the structure was also used a recording story for a number of rock bands including Led Zeppelin, who recorded parts of their albums Led Zeppelin III, Led Zeppelin IV, Houses of the Holy and Physical Graffiti. In fact, the song Black Dog, was a reference to the a black Labrador Retriever that used to hang around Headley Grange during recording.
Keeping with musical references in their cigar names, the Headley Grange is just that, a reference to the famed building where so many great Led Zeppelin songs have been recorded.
Originally introduced at the 2012 IPCPR in Orlando, FL and officially launched in 2013, the Headley Grange is as bold as the songs recorded by Led Zeppelin in that three-story structure.
The Headley Grange is available in 6 vitolas:
- Eminentes: 5 1/4″ x 44
- Corona Gorda: 5 5/8″ x 46
- Hermoso No. 4: 5″ x 48
- Dobles: 6 1/8″ x 50
- Estupendos: 5 1/2″ x 52
- Laguito No. 6 (Toro): 6.5″ x 56
The Headley Grange blend is described as:
- Wrapper – Sumatra Ecuador
- Binder – Nicaragua
- Filler – Nicaragua
For this review I sampled the Laguito No. 6
