Anwar Mithavayani and Kings Cigars debuted two new blends at this years IPCPR. One was the Kings 5 Year Anniversary and the second was the Prince. It is the Prince I would like to review for you today.
As part of the Kings Cigars Signature Series, the Prince is a bold statement for the 5 year old Kings Cigars company. Anwar chose to go with a 4-year-old wrapper and 6-year-old binders and fillers. The blend is described as:
- Wrapper – Mexican San Andrés
- Binder – Nicaragua
- Filler – Ecuador and Nicaragua
The even bolder statement comes from the selection of large ring vitolas:
- 4 x 64 Prince – MSRP $7.00 (50-count boxes)
- 6 x 60 Prince – MSRP $9.00 (25-count boxes)
For this review I sampled the 4 x 64 Prince
Cigar Review Notes
- OK, this is one stubby, fat, smoke!
- There is a lot of packing in it – no soft spots at all
- Medium to dark brown wrapper with some sheen to it
- Sweet fresh aroma on foot – like a early spring morning
- Cold draw is open with notes of earth and pepper
- First light hits me with buttery toast and jam
- Pepper awakens the nasals
- The Prince quickly settles into a sweet smoke
- Medium grey ash on a thin char line
- Butter fills in the profile after an inch of this monster
- The smoke is ultra smooth at the half way with the fruity jam being the main component
- Aroma is wafting sweet toasty notes in the lounge
- Touch of sea salt starts to build
- Ash has held for a good part of the smoke
- Ends with a salty spice
- Just over an hour of smoking time
Overall, the Kings Cigars Prince 4 x 64 was a decent smoke, but I found it to be a bit short to really develop its profile. The San Andrés fruity jam flavors were prevalent throughout the smoke. The ash was amazing. I will have to find the 6 x 60 to see how it is stands up.
