MBombay Corojo Oscuro Robusto Cigar Review

I could spend a paragraph or two talking about and introducing you to MBombay, Bombay Tobak, and Mel Shah, but I think you might already know this information. In the off chance you don’t, and just happened to come upon this review, I am happy to point you to some of the other reviews we wrote regarding Mel Shah and MBombay.

MBombay Corojo Oscuro

For the enlightened MBombay followers and those that want to learn more, I offer you today’s review – the MBombay Corojo Oscuro – a rich blend of Ecuadorian Tobacco with some added Peruvian and Dominican leaf in the filler to round out the flavor experience.

  • Wapper: Ecuador Corojo Oscuro
  • Binder: Ecuador Criollo ’98
  • Filler: Ecuador, Peru, & Dominican Republic

The MBombay Corojo Oscuro is available in 5 Vitolas and packaged in 20-count boxes with an MSRP ranging from $7.00 to around $10.00.

  • Churchill – 5 x 52
  • Perfecto – 5.5 x 50
  • Robusto – 4,5 x 50
  • Double Corona – 7 x 52
  • Gordo – 6 x 60

The MBombay Corojo Oscuro is adorned with the classic MBombay outer sleeve that, when removed, reveals a beautifully crafted cigar, with a high sheen, dark brown Corojo Oscuro wrapper. It has minimal veins and a dark, rich, center core. The band is the standard MBombay band, endearing it to be an MBombay product.

For this review I sampled the MBombay Corojo Oscuro Robusto

Cigar Review Notes

  • Dark Chocolate aroma on the foot
  • Earth , pepper, chocolate, and  nut on the cold draw
  • I rolled this one around  for a while as I was really enjoying the pre-light flavors
  • Initial puffs offered cocoa butter to start
  • A gentle spice on the retro-hale
  • Nice tight ash on a medium char line
  • Sweet nutty aroma
  • Delicious spice starts to build
  • Herbal vegetal notes join the profile near the second half
  • Wrapper is amazingly oily
  • Woody and coffee notes enter into the second third
  • Final third offers  a creamy butter flavor with a syrupy aroma
  • Perfect burn and well centered cone
  • Medium to Full strength
  • Total Smoking Time was 1 hour and 20 Minutes

Overall, the MBombay Corojo Oscuro Robusto was an amazing cigar, rich in flavor, throughout a longer than expected burn. The burn was pristine, offering no troubles through the journey. I would expect nothing less from Mel Shah and MBombay. With all  the sweetness,  cream, and cocoa notes in this cigar,  I would suggest pairing it with an aged rum or Cuban coffee. SeriousCigars, com has the MBombay Corojo Oscuro Robusto priced at $6.99/cigar and $125,50/Box. If you are a virgin to MBombay cigars, I highly recommend giving the MBombay Corojo Oscuro a whirl.

  • Enjoyed this cigar today with a dark roast Columbian coffe. All of the aforementioned notes are spot on. I usually prefer Nicaraguan however, this cigar is one I will certainly be enjoying in the future. Well done.
