At the 2016 IPCPR Valentia Cigars introduced two, full body cigars, to their portfolio. The first is the Valentia Kentucky Dark Fire and the second was the Valentia Marine. These new introductions round out their portfolio with cigars to fit any palate. The Valentia Marine is the topic of today’s review.
The Marine is solid cigar that sports a glossy dark brown wrapper with a few noticeable veins. Valentia went with an ocean blue band for the Marine which pops nicely on the dark wrapper.
It is available in a single vitola; a 6 x 56 Toro which retails for $12.05 MSRP.

- Wrapper – Havano Seed Nicaragua
- Binder – Nicaragua Seco
- Filler – Nicaragua Ligero, Santo Domingo Ligero, Nicaragua Seco

Cigar Review Notes
- Ultra shiny dark brown wrapper with a few veins
- Nicely capped and solid in the hand
- Spice and cocoa aromas off the foot
- Not much aroma on the barrel
- Cold draw has a restricted draw and offered a mix of pepper, butter, and vanilla notes
- As we set sail, the first puffs deliver some pepper on the nose and sweet oak and butter on the palate
- A fruit note joins the mix
- Medium grey ash with a pinpoint burn
- Nice oily sheen
- Slight squish in the center
- Smoke smooths very well after an inch and half
- Perfect burn cone is revealed after the ash fell
- Citrus develops at the start of the second third
- Aroma shifts to nutty
- Getting some waves in the burn after the first half
- Sour cherry enters middle of the second third
- Blend stays consistent through the end
- Medium-full strength
- Total Smoking time was 1 hour and 20 minutes
Overall, the Valentia Marine was a bolder introduction from the Addy Sandler and Valentia cigars. The early flavors were delectable. The burn was spot on for a good half of the cigar, but it did build a wave in the second half that required a some touch-ups.
