The 13th annual No Joke Smoke 2022 dinner was held on 4/2/22 and hosted by Kalani Matsuura from Mokuleia Cigar Company. The theme this year was What If..?.
After waiting for 2 years due to the pandemic, the Hawaii cigar community got to experience smoking with their fellow brothers and sisters of the leaf. Every guest shared the same sentiment – it’s been long overdue to have cigar events.
Helping us celebrate the dinner was Enrique Seijas of Matilde Cigars. Mokuleia Cigars has carried his families brand since 2014 and NJS guests felt extremely special as they were the first consumers to smoke the Matilde’s Limited Exposure no 2.
The event featured numerous Matilde cigars:
- Renacer
- Oscuro
- Quadratta
- Serena
- Limited Exposure no 1
- Limited Exposure no 2
Giving Back
One of goals for No Joke is for our guest to give back to the community. Our guests donated over a thousand pounds of canned goods to The Hawaii Food Bank and in return won fantastic prizes. The grand prizes were Siglo humidors worth over $1000 each from Siglo Accessories in Hong Kong.
Supporters
No Joke Smoke was made possible with the support from Bernie Leong of Havana Club Honolulu, David Suzuki of Urbane Cigars, Keane Tanaka of Aloha Tobacco, Restaurant 604 for the food, Don Baduria for the sound system and playing live music, Joshua Javier for photos, Leia Tsubota/Desiree Razon at the check in table, Markus Yamabe for helping set up and to all the friends who help take down after the event. A big mahalo to all my guests who attended and making this a successful dinner.
