Altadis U.S.A., has announced they will introduce a (4 x 38), handmade mini version of the H. Upmann Nicaragua by A.J. Fernandez. The new vitola, which will come packaged in 6-count tins, will be available in mid-June and carry an MSRP of $23.10/Tin.
The original H. Upmann Nicaragua, was launched in 2017 and Altidas U.S.A. noted that cigar ‘exposed the time-honored brand to a new generation of adult cigar smokers.‘ It was further explained that the new vitola has aptly been named, Papi. “Papi” is a term of endearment, frequently used by master blender A.J. Fernandez, for those close to him.
Altidas U.S.A. feels the H. Upmann Nicaragua Papi sets itself apart from other tins, ‘as it is a true, handmade, premium cigar made at the esteemed Tabacalera Fernandez factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.’ The Papi will feature the same blend as the original:
- Wrapper – Ecuadorian Sumatra
- Binder – Nicaraguan Corojo 99
- Filler – Nicaraguan Criollo 98/Dominican Piloto Cubano
In today’s press release, H. Upmann brand manager Candela Diaz stated:
“We felt strongly that A.J. Fernandez could create a small 38 X 4 sized vitola, that would fill that need for those adult consumers looking for a premium short smoke. The H. Upmann Nicaraguan Papi is a masterpiece blend, which will be housed in an attractive and convenient, easy to carry decorative tin.”
