Cigar News: Black Star Line Cigars Celebrates 5th Anniversary with the Marun

Amazing how fast the years have passed. It seems only yesterday that we were sampling the first blend out of this new and exciting company. Now five years later Black Star Line Cigars is celebrating with a new blend known as the Marun. The name Marun simply means five in Yoruba. Yoruba is an indigenous tribe of Nigeria.

For the Marun project, the company work with Espinosa Premium Cigars and their LA Zona factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.

Owner of Black Star Line Cigars – Aric Bey states:

“The opportunity to work with the Espinosa team was brought to me by Richie “riot” Otero. He recognized our hard work and proposed we do a project with La Zona. It was Great working with Hector Alfonso the master blender at La Zona. He is a wealth of knowledge and taught me and my team some new things.

This is a significant year for us. It came up fast and I can’t believe I’ve had this much success in a short period of time. The fifth year for most businesses is a pivotal year and we are looking to keep growing. La Zona along with all the other factories I work with will help us to get there.”

The blend is described as:

  • Wrapper – Ecuadorian Sumatra
  • Binder – Nicaraguan
  • Filler – Nicaraguan

The Marun is expressed in a single (6 x 50) vitola. The first run will be 5000 cigars. A limited amount of samples will be available at PCA. Anticipated shipping for Marun with be early June. MSRP for Marun will be 12.99.

Additionally, there is a special version of Marun being released for Oak Glen Tobacconist in Yucaipa, CA.
