Cigar News: Foundation Cigars Extends Charter Oak

Foundation Cigars announced today a Habano blend extension to the their famed Charter Oak line of cigars. In addtion to the adding the Habano blend, the company is also adding a new (6 x 52) torpedo to the extension.

Packaging has also changed for the torpedo as it will come in 50-count cabinet boxes. The rest of the Habano blend will be packaged in 20-count boxes.

The new Charter Oak habano blend is described as:

  • Wrapper – Ecuadorian Habano
  • Binder – Nicaraguan
  • Filler – Nicaraguan

Including the Torpedo vitola, the Charter Oak Habano is expressed in 6 different vitolas:

  • Petite Corona (5.25 x 42) MSRP $5.50
  • Rothschild (5.5 x 50) MSRP $5.70
  • Lonsdale (6.25 x 46) MSRP $6.00
  • Toro (6 x 52) MSRP $6.20
  • Grande (6 x 60) MSRP $6.50
  • Torpedo (6 x 52) MSRP $7.00

Production is being handled by Tabacalera A.J. Fernandez Cigars de Nicaragua in Estelí, Nicaragua and the company expects shipping to retailers in the coming weeks.

While many ciagrs made by Foundation Cigars highlight a leaf from his home state of Connecticut, Nick noted:

“Unfortunately, there is not enough supply of Connecticut Habano for this brand and also it is very costly. Connecticut Habano needs almost three years in fermentation and we only have enough for use on our Tabernacle Havana Seed CT blend.”
