Cigar News: Montecristo Celebrates 90 Years with a Rare, Limited-Edition Masterpiece

Montecristo, one of the most iconic names in premium cigars, marks 90 years of excellence with the debut of the Montecristo 90th Anniversary, a limited-production cigar crafted by Rafael Nodal, VP of Product Capability at Altadis U.S.A., in collaboration with the Plasencia family. The cigar blends Montecristo’s Cuban heritage with modern elegance and will be available exclusively at Casa de Montecristo stores on August 30, with a nationwide release on September 15.

“The Montecristo 90th Anniversary is more than a cigar—it’s a statement of legacy and ambition,” said Gabe Diaz, Brand Manager. “We wanted to respect our roots while delivering a modern experience that speaks to today’s luxury smoker.”

The blend is described as a Nicaraguan puro, handcrafted with premium Nicaraguan tobaccos from Plasencia’s fields, the medium-bodied blend is said to offer notes of roasted coffee, dark cocoa, and gentle spice with a creamy finish.

The Montecristo 90th Anniversary will be expressed in two vitolas:

  • Nacional (5½ x 56 Parejo) – MSRP $38.75/cigar
  • No. 2 (6⅛ x 52 Figurado) – MSRP $40.00/cigar

To celebrate, Montecristo will host an exclusive national launch tour inspired by Havana’s golden age, featuring curated pairings and immersive experiences.

BRM x Montecristo: Limited-Edition Timepiece and Humidor

In celebration of the milestone, Montecristo partnered with BRM Chronographes to release a limited-edition bronze-cased skeleton dial watch—only 35 pieces available. Handmade in Paris and engraved with individual edition numbers, each timepiece is housed in a bespoke Montecristo 90th Anniversary Watch Winder Humidor featuring space for 18 cigars, a watch winder, custom playing cards, dice, poker chips, and “The Last Chip” game card. The humidor and watch has an MSRP of $15,000 USD.
