Cigar News: National Tobacco Purchase Age Raised to 21

On his way to Florida for Christmas vacation, President Trump signed the bipartisan $1.4 Trillion spending package aboard Air Force One Friday evening. The legislation includes $1.4 Billion for barriers to stiffen border security, $25 Million for gun violence research and includes a provision that makes it a violation of Federal law to sell tobacco products to any one under the age of 21. There is no exception for Military personnel and it includes all tobacco products including e-cigarettes, cigars, pipe tobacco and vaping.

The new age restriction is expected to take effect later in 2020.
