Building on the success of the original War Bear, back in 2019, Powastanie Cigars announced today, the release of the War Bear Wojtek 2020. The War Bear Wojtek is a nod to an army service bear during the Battle of Monte Cassino, in Italy in 1944. Wojtek helped move crates of ammunition and became a celebrity with visiting Allied generals and statesmen.
The company explains this new release in a YouTube video here:
The Polish word Powstaine translates to “uprising” in English and the war bear is an important symbol, as explained by the company:
“When soldiers under fire could not get ammunition even if you are under fire and all odds are stacked against you we will find a way to continue forward.”
This is a mantra that the company follows every day in their business.
The Powstanie Cigars War Bear Wojtek 2020 has blend described as:
- Wrapper: Ecuadorian habano and San Andres barber pole
- Binder: Indonesian
- Filler: Nicaraguan
The War Bear Wojtek 2020 is expressed in a single (6 x 52) toro barber pole vitola and packaged in 21-count boxes. These will be a limited production of 500 boxes. MSRP has been set at $13.00/cigar.
The company will be shipping to their key retailers next week. They are currently available at the company’s Cigar Hustler store in Deltona, Florida but not online as they want their retailers to have an opportunity to sell to their customers. It’s important to us to protect the people that support us.
