In the world of boutique small batch cigars there are a few that stand out. Your list may be different than mine but have you been following the Mad Scientist of blending that I have come to know over the past few years. His creations have been unique, to say the least, and at times have certainly turned heads.
I would like you to meet, Pat Potter of TABAC Trading Co, he’s the brand owner, ligador and a torcedor who has earned other master level certifications in our industry. He’s a legacy like a few. His grandfather was co-founder of Tinder Box International. As he was too young to have contributed much before the sale to Villazon, tobacco is in his DNA. He began his brand in 2015 by producing micro-batches to local friends and to retailers his grandfather’s Rolodex provided. Patrick was able to slip into the FDA at the right time, and with his background found a way to register and has been provided exemption for all substantial equivalent products being produced in the future. Patrick’s business and legal background, doesn’t hold a candle to his creative abilities. He’s made sure that his brand will eventually become a household name.

“Green Chile Apple Pie is a small batch offering to only my top retailer supporters. The best part is – I allocate them for free. All my retailers have to do is pay for shipping. I began to do a couple of these every year. Last October I sent out Hallow-Scream and kicked the door in on a few unsuspecting cigar enthusiasts. What sets these cigars apart from anything is the introduction of a process that concentrates flavors and aromas, then orchestrates heat in the most interesting way. It’s not the white pepper we’ve all noticed, no this is Capsaicin, the heat of all heat. Capsaicin is rated the hottest substance for human consumption, it ranges from 15 million to 16 million on the Scoville Scale.“
What’s his secret? A new fermentation process he’s developed and perfected for his Milk & Honey lines. It’s genius but it’s also proprietary and with it comes some concern for copy-cats.
