For this review, I sampled two Bishops Blend Robustos which I received from the company for the purpose of reviewing on Stogie Press.
Pre-Light Examination
The Black Label Trading Co. Bishop’s Blend 2026 immediately makes a striking first impression. Construction is excellent, featuring the signature serpentine barber-pole presentation that intertwines a dark, marbled, oily leaf with a contrasting lighter dark tan wrapper leaf. The cigar feels firmly packed from head to foot, and the classic Bishop’s Blend cap is expertly applied, showcasing the attention to craftsmanship that has become synonymous with the annual release.

Two bands adorn the cigar, both finished in black with metallic blood-red accents that perfectly capture the dark, gothic aesthetic the Bishop’s Blend line is known for. The primary band proudly displays the Bishop’s Blend artwork, while the secondary band complements the design with matching metallic accents, describing this as the “Bishops Blend”.

Running the cigar along the nose reveals enticing baking spice aromas drifting from the barrel, while the closed foot offers a touch of barnyard tang that hints at the richness waiting inside.
After clipping the cap, the cold draw proves every bit as inviting as the pre-light aromas. An immediate natural sweetness greets the palate before giving way to a rich black pepper sensation that lingers prominently across the lips and tongue, setting the stage for what promises to be a bold and flavorful smoking experience.
Cigar Review Notes
Using my dual-flame torch, I gently warmed the closed foot before bringing the Bishop’s Blend 2026 to life. The cigar accepted the flame with ease and immediately announced itself with a bold blast of black pepper. Within moments, a layer of savory character emerged, adding depth to the opening profile. The foot produced an assertive pepper aroma while the surrounding smoke carried an enticing natural sweetness that lingered pleasantly in the air.

As the burn passed the one-inch mark, the profile settled into a more refined balance. The savory notes remained at the forefront as waves of stone fruit, coffee, and a touch of cream rounded out the first third. The cigar produced an impressive volume of dense, flavorful smoke with every draw. Construction remained solid throughout the opening stages, although the ash proved a bit less stable than I prefer, dropping earlier than expected. Even so, the burn line stayed remarkably even and consistently revealed a well-centered burn cone.

Crossing into the second third, the savory character continued to anchor the profile while the cigar steadily increased in strength, reaching a confident medium-plus around the halfway point. Deeper into the second third, earthy notes and chocolate began to take center stage, supported by an underlying layer of baking spice that added complexity without overpowering the other flavors. The smoke remained cool, rich, and exceptionally satisfying.

The final third introduced another enjoyable transition as the earlier natural sweetness evolved into a richer caramel-like note. Hints of wood joined the profile, complementing the lingering earth and spice while bringing the journey to a balanced and satisfying conclusion. The Bishop’s Blend maintained its bold personality through the finish, delivering a flavorful experience that never lost its composure. The cigar finished at full strength with a total smoking time of approximately one hour and twenty minutes.

Burn & Construction
Aside from an ash that was somewhat more fragile than preferred, the Bishop’s Blend 2026 delivered excellent construction throughout the smoking experience. The draw offered just the right amount of resistance, producing thick, creamy clouds of smoke from start to finish. The burn line remained consistently even, while each ash drop revealed a centered, well-formed burn cone that required no corrective touch-ups. Overall construction reflected the exceptional craftsmanship that has become a hallmark of cigars produced at Fabrica Oveja Negra.
Final Analysis

The Black Label Trading Co. Bishop’s Blend 2026 once again demonstrates why this annual release has earned such a devoted following. From its visually stunning barber-pole presentation to its evolving progression of pepper, savory notes, stone fruit, coffee, cream, earth, chocolate, baking spice, caramel, and wood, the cigar offers an engaging journey that continually rewards the smoker’s attention.
What impressed me most was the way the profile evolved without abandoning its identity. The opening pepper and savory characteristics gradually gave way to richer, sweeter nuances while maintaining balance throughout the entire experience. Strength built methodically from medium-bodied to a satisfying full-bodied finish, never overwhelming the palate despite its bold personality.
Construction was equally commendable. While the ash proved a bit fragile during portions of the smoke, the burn remained remarkably consistent, the draw was excellent, and the cigar produced outstanding smoke output from beginning to end.
For those who appreciate full-flavored cigars with complexity, refinement, and a distinctive personality, the Bishop’s Blend 2026 is another worthy chapter in one of Black Label Trading Co.’s most iconic annual releases.
