Pre-Light Examination

The Jas Sum Kral Munchies English Almond Toffee is a firmly packed cigar that sports a medium brown all but veinless wrapper. The cigar is smooth to the touch and finished well with a double cap. I have come to expect excellent construction from Jas Sum Kral over the years and this is no exception. The cigar has no adornments on it so don’t look for a band on this one, but the cool packaging looks like the following.

Running the barrel along the nose you are immediately greeted with a chocolate toffee sweetness while the foot further enhances that confectionary aroma. I can almost taste the toffee in my teeth from the aroma.

I opened the cap with my CigarMedics Baller cutter and gave this one quite few cold draw puffs to taste the confectionary goodness, including cocoa and caramel, that was playing with my palate. I have to say, there was no chemical or pasty notes to be discerned so the process seems to be very clean that enhances this blend. The more I puffed I started to notice a hint of black pepper finding its way on the tongue.

Using my single flame Xikar torch I warmed foot to an even orange glow and drew in the first puffs. The thing that struck me first was the aroma that was wafting off the foot, it was like being outside a confectionary shop with an oak wood campfire near yonder. From a taste perspective it had an initial sweet chocolate cream note. Follow along as I burn this one to ash.

Final Analysis

Say what you may about flavored cigars, love them, hate them, or maybe I will try some. The Jas Sum Kral Munchies English Almond Toffee is actually a rather pleasant cigar experience. I have had my fair share of flavored cigars and this one is very clean in its flavor enhancement. The pre-light aromas make you think this would be over the top, but it is not, it is balanced well and magically settles into more of a premium tobacco flavor midway. The burn was decent with just a mild jag while it maintained a decent ash between drops. If you like flavored cigars, then this is a must try. If you don’t like flavored cigars, then that is OK too, nobody is forcing them on you. I rate this a 91.

Point Deductions: (-1) Mild Jag in Burn; (-2) Papery Aroma Midway; (-1) Sharp Pointed Burn Cone

Bonus Points: (+1) Complex Expression of Nuanced Notes
