Cigar Review: All Saints Dedicacion Habano Mitre – Rated 89

Introduced at the 2022 PCA Trade show, the All Saints Dedicacion Mitre is a special (5 x 54) vitola that is designed to look like the hat, of the same name, worn by Roman Catholic bishops and abbots as well as some Anglican and Lutheran bishops. It is not quite a torpedo and not quite a belicoso. The company introduced their Colorado and Habano blend in the Mitre format at the trade show.

Today we will focus on the Habano blend, which is described as:

  • Wrapper: Ecuador (Habano Oscuro)
  • Binder: Nicaragua
  • Filler: Nicaragua

The All Saints Habano Mitre is packaged in 12-count boxes and has an MSRP of $10.35/cigar.

For this review I sampled two All Saints Habano Mitres that I received from the company for the purpose of reviewing on Stogie Press.

Pre-Light Examination

The All Saints Dedicacion Habano Mitre is a nicely constructed cigar that sports a dark tan wrapper over a firmly pressed bunching. There are a few veins that run thought the shaft of the cigar and the wrapper exhibits a mild toothiness to the touch. The “Mitre” cap is well applied. Looking at it from the foot, the pressing is not exactly round but there were no soft spots noted in the bunching.

A single band adorns the cigar that uses a white, gold and black motif. The company logo is proudly presented on the top of the band while just below it declares the as the “Habano” blend.

Running the Habano Mitre along the nose, I picked up a mildly pungent note along the barrel while the foot exuded notes of fruit and nut.

I chose to slice the cap straight, just above the shoulder of the cigar and proceeded to give it some cold draw puffs that I found to be nicely restricted and offered extremely enticing notes of cinnamon spice and vanilla. Certainly, a fine introduction to the journey.

Using my single flame Xikar torch lighter, I warmed the foot to an even orange glow and drew in the first puffs of mild spice and cocoa to begin another All Saints experience. Follow along as I burn this one to ash.

Final Analysis

The All Saints Dedicacion Habano Mitre experience embarks with a delicate interplay of subtle spice and nuanced cocoa notes, creating an intriguing sensation on the palate. Almond undertones gradually join the mix, enriching the overall taste. Midway through, the spice notes intensify, adding a brighter layer to the profile. As the journey nears its end, a delightful emergence of fruit notes completes the profile. I would not say this is an overly complex cigar as I have experienced in past All Saints offerings but there are sufficient flavor transitions to keep it from being one dimensional. It did have some burn issues that knocked off points from the overall score. Check a fiver of these. I rate this an 89.

Point Deductions: (-1) Medium Grey Ash; (-1) Flaky Ash; (-1) Jagged Burn; (-1) Off Burn but no touch up required; (-1) Flat but Centered Burn Cone
