Cigar Review: Room 101 Farce Nicaragua Toro – Rated 94

For those that follow Room 101 and Matt Booth, you know that his Room 101 Cigar brand was acquired by General Cigar Co. in June of 2022. It took only 5 months after the Acquisition, for General to start shipping the 4th rendition of the Room 101 Farce known as the Farce Nicaragua.

The blend of this latest Farce is described as:

  • Wrapper – Nicaragua
  • Binder – Nicaragua
  • Filler – Nicaragua

Yes, as the name implies, it is a Nicaraguan puro. Being to true to it’s name, it hand crafted at the oldest factory in Nicaragua – Fábrica de Tabacos Joya de Nicaragua S.A.

The Room 101 Farce Nicaragua is expressed in 3 popular vitolas, each packaged in 20-count boxes:

  • Robusto (5 1/4 x 50) – MSRP $11.70
  • Toro (6 x 52) – MSRP $12.80
  • Gordo (6 x 60) – MSRP $13.90

For this review, I sampled one Farce Nicaragua Toro, which I received as part of the SmokeInn Great Smoke event Package.

Pre-Light Examination

Room 101 Farce Nicaragua is a stunningly beautiful cigar with a rich dark brown, toothy and oily wrapper. There are minimal veins running through the barrel. The cigar is solidly packed from head to foot with no discernable soft spots. A well applied triple cap completes the construction.

Two bands adorn the cigar. The primary band features the Room 101 logo in white on a pale blue background along with some gold adornments around it. The second band is placed just below the primary and declares this as the FARCE in gold on a white background with a thin pale blue line underneath.

Running the cigar along the nose, I am greeted with a pungent wet earthy note along the barrel while the foot exuded notes of pepper and cocoa.

Using my CigarMedics Baller Cutter, I opened the cap perfectly and proceeded to give it some cold draw puffs that were spot on with restriction and graced the palate with notes of walnut and cocoa.

Using my single flame torch, I warmed the foot to an even orange glow, and drew in the first enticing puffs of natural sweetness, cocoa, and pepper. Follow along a I burn this one to ash.

Final Analysis

As soon as I took the first puff of the Room 101 Farce Nicaragua, my taste buds were greeted with an explosion of natural sweetness, rich cocoa, and a peppery kick. As I continued puffing, the flavors intensified with a creamy texture that mingled perfectly with the initial notes. I couldn’t help but notice the extreme oiling forming above the burn line. Dark chocolate notes took center stage in the second third, delighting my senses with each puff while a delightful walnut aroma wafts off the foot. Moving into the final third, the intensity increased with an added kick of pepper joining the dark chocolate. The cigar remained well-balanced with a continued undertone of cream, keeping it pleasant until the very end. This is a box buy and I rate it a 94.
