Don Kiki White Label Harvest of 2013 – Rough Cut Cigar Review

Don Kiki White Label Harvest of 2013

Karen Berger from Don Kiki  cigars has been a noticeable face of the company on social media lately. She has been promoting her famous shop in Daytona Beach, FL and many of the new blends they have introduced. The other month we  reviewed the”K “ and it made me a follower of Karen and Don Kiki cigars. Today I would like to review for you the limited edition vintage Don Kiki White Label Harvest of 2013 cigar. This is a limited batch cigar using aged tobacco produced at Esteli Cigars factory S.A.. I have never had the Harvest of 2005 vintage but I certainly had the pleasure of smoking the 2013 vintage.

The Don Kiki White Label Harvest of 2013 is a blend of Cuban-seed Esteliano™ tobacco that is encased under a superb Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper. They come packaged in boxes of 20 and are available in 4 vitolas:

  • Churchill – 7×52
  • Chairman – 6.5×52
  • Robusto = 5×52
  • Torpedo – 6×60

Pricing ranges from $8.50 to $9.50 MSRP

For this review I sampled the Don Kiki White Label Harvest of 2013 Robusto

Cigar Review Notes

  • Ultra-smooth dark tan wrapper
  • Sweetness along the barrel
  • Slight earthy tobacco on foot
  • The foot shows the dark Esteli tobacco that forms the core
  • Unrestricted cold draw with notes of earth
  • Once ignited there is a very smooth creamy start
  • Pleasant retro-hale
  • Light grey ash
  • Hint of coffee and delightful sweetness enters
  • Well behaved burn with a thin char line
  • Cedar enters the mix halfway
  • A touch of peppermint tingles the palate briefly
  • Oak aroma
  • Flavor stays consistent through the second third
  • Final third brings added spice with a continued sweet back note
  • Light to medium strength

Overall the Don Kiki White Label Harvest of 2013 was a fantastic Light to Medium body cigar that delivered on flavor from its aged Nicaraguan core. The burn was all but perfect holding a long tight ash. The peppermint at the halfway point was quite the delight though it lasted only briefly. This certainly is a cigar that any cigar lover would enjoy and it would pair very well with a morning Café Cubano.  By the way, if you want to learn how to make  Café Cubano, my wife gives step by step directions here.
