Boston Jimmie and Bob Curtis – Island Smoke Shop
On the the trip back from Key West we stopped briefly in the Island Smoke Shop in Key Largo, FL. This is the largest cigar shop in the Florida Keys and South Florida and is a must stop for any cigar lover heading there. The shop is located in Pink Plaza on the west side of US 1 just north of Mile Marker 103. You can find it by looking for the blue “West Marine” logo on the plaza sign.
When we entered the shop we met Bob Curtis the Proprietor and we spent a little time chatting about his shop. The Island Smoke Shop has been serving south Florida and the Florida Keys for over 17 years and has a huge selections of you favorite brands. They have the Largest Humidor in south Florida and their prices can not be beat. There is a full line of accessories and humidors also.
There is comfortable seating looking out over the plaza and if you are into Vaping, they have a full line of vaping products and accessorizes, but Bob explained that he is getting out of the vaping equipment line and will be only stocking the juice.
One of the nice things I liked about the Island Smoke Shop humidor is that Bob took the time to create placards for every box of cigars identifying the blend and even color coded it to identify if the cigar is Mild, Medium, or Full. That makes it easy for the consumer to easily identify a cigar that meets his or her flavor desire.
Island Smoke also has their own line of cigars, the EL ORIGINAL, and these are not the normal house brands we are accustomed to. SMOKE magazine rated these as the best cigar made in the US and the best maduro in the world. That is quite the accolade. The EL ORIGINAL is an intoxicating 6 country blend of Dominican, Honduran,Nicaraguan, Mexican, Ecuadorian, and Peruvian tobaccos. Bob said he would put it up against any Cuban cigar on the market.
