Apostate Cigars has confirmed that Death Mask, its strictly limited collaboration with master blender James Brown at Tabacalera Oveja Negra in Estelí, Nicaragua, has officially sold through its full production run of 250 boxes ahead of shipping.
Retailers who secured allocation at PCA 2026 in New Orleans, along with existing Apostate core-line accounts who picked up remaining inventory, can expect boxes to begin arriving October 1st, 2026.
Death Mask marks Apostate’s first production outside its longtime home at Tabacalera Palma, built from Brown’s personal tobacco inventor. It has a blend described as:
- Wrapper – San Andrés
- Binder – Ecuador Habano
- Filler – Nicaraguan & USA broadleaf
The 5.5 x 48 vitola was built to let the blend unfold slowly, with the complexity and development Apostate is known for. The cigar was blended by Kendrick Woolstenhulme and Brandon Oveson. The company has set an MSPR of $20.00/cigar.
With sell-through complete and shipping quickly approaching, Death Mask retailers can begin preparing for their allocations to land on shelves in early October.
