Cigar Review: D’Crossier Seleccion Escogida Lumina Double Corona  – Rated 94

A new line of cigars from D’Crossier Cigars hit the market in summer of this year known as Seleccion Escogida Lumina. The line was blended by Isaias Santana Diaz and Andres Leon and is handcrafted at Tabacos de Costa Rica. According to the company, the cigars in this line have undergone a 8 month aging process (4 months in the aging room and then 4 months in Spanish cedar boxes). The core of the blend uses filler tobacco that has been aged 5 years and has been sourced from Jalapa, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic.

For this review I sampled on of the D’Crossier Seleccion Escogida Lumina Double Coronas which was gifted to me by a fine BOTL – Robert Cruz.

Pre-Light Examination

The D’Crossier Seleccion Escogida Lumina Double Corona is draped with a silky smooth and oily dark tan wrapper that is very light on veins. It has a nice firm roll and packing. A well applied double cap completes the construction.

The cigar is adorned with two bands. The primary band uses a red, gold and white motif and proudly displays the company’s logo. A secondary green and gold band declares it as the “LUMINA”.

Running the cigar across the nose I picked up mild cedar notes along the barrel while the foot exuded notes of chocolate, nut and a slight peppery note.

I used my CigarMedics Baller cutter to open the cap perfectly and gave it some cold draw puffs that were spot on with restriction. Peppery spice begins to evolve on the palate with each cold draw. There is also a light natural sweetness in the background and a touch of nut.

I used my single fan flame Xikar lighter to warm the foot to an even orange glow and drew in the first puffs that treated the palate with notes of fruit and spice. Follow along as I burn this one to ash.
