Cigar Review: Ferio Tego Timeless Ten Years – Rated 92

The Timeless Collection under the Nat Sherman flag debuted in the United States in 2012 with the Timeless Prestige Blend made in the Dominican Republic. It was the first blend that Michael Herklots- now the co-owner of Ferio Tego created. Herklots and business partner Brendon Scott bought out the Nat Sherman brands back in 2020 and formed the Ferio Tego Cigar Company.

At this years Premium Cigar Association (PCA) trade show, the company launched the Ferio Tego Timeless Ten Years that celebrates a decade of the Timeless blends.

Ferio Tego Timeless Ten Years

The Ferio Tego Timeless Ten Years is a limited-edition cigar expressed in one (5 3/4 x 54) Robusto Grande vitola.

The blend is described as:

  • Wrapper – Dominican Republic
  • Binder – Dominican Republic
  • Filler – Dominican Republic & Nicaragua

Davidoff of Geneva handles the distribution of all the Timeless blends and the company’s website explains the Timeless Ten Years:

For ten years, the Timeless Collection blends have been a meaningful contribution to the humidors of consumers and retailers alike. To honor its first decade, Timeless 10 Years is an exclusive, commemorative release, available as a limited edition. With this special blend, we selected rare, aged tobaccos from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua, blended together to create a cigar which exemplifies the elegance and complexities connoisseurs of Timeless blends have come to know and love.

For this review, I sampled one Ferio Tego Timeless Ten Years cigar which I purchased from my local brick & mortar – Executive Cigar Shop and Lounge in Melbourne, FL.

Pre-Light Examination

The Ferio Tego Timeless Ten Years is presented as a light brown cigar that has some noticeable veins and a very light amount of oils. There are some bumps as you run the finger along the barrel and the feel of the leaf is a mildly gritty. The cigar is solidly packed and firm from head to foot. A decent cap finishes the presentation.

Three bands adorn the cigar. The primary band uses a brown, gold and white motif and boldly displays the Timeless logo in the center with an added display of “LIMITED EDITION” on the bottom. A second brown and gold bands declares this as the LIMITED 10 YEARS and the final third band identifies it as a Exclusive for Ferio Tego.

Running the cigar along the nose, I picked up rich barn yard notes off the barrel while the foot exudes notes of cedar and a touch of butter.

I sliced the cap straight across the shoulder of the cigar and proceeded to give it some cold draw puffs that were fine with restriction and offered notes of leather, floral, and cedar.

Using my single flame torch, I warmed the foot to an even orange glow and drew in the first puffs os pepper and nutty smoke. Follow along as I burn this one to ash.

Final Analysis

I found the Ferio Tego Timeless Ten Years to be a rather tasty medium strength cigar that had a decent balance of flavors and transitions. I enjoyed how it started with nutty and pepper notes. The dark chocolate nuances and fruity floral aromas kept the profile quite pleasant through the 1st third. I loved how the spice morphed into a cinnamon note midway. It did develop a growing off burn which I hoped would correct but eventually it required a touch up to get it burning correctly. I will say, I was expecting a a more pristine burn for the price but it is what it is and it did carry a rather long ash. I may try another another. I rate this a 92.

Point Deductions: ( -1) Wavy Burn; (-1) Off Burn; (-1) Touch up required; (-1) Might Try one again

Bonus Points: (+1) Long Ash; (+1) Complex and Nuanced
