Weiss, a self-made challenger of convention, has been an avid cigar aficionado for over a decade. After joining Camacho’s “Board of the Bold” in 2013, an opportunity arose for Weiss to partner with Camacho on a label of his very own, the newly formed BG Meyer Co.

BG Meyer embodies the aspirations of those on the journey to live a legendary life. The breath of a man’s spirit rests in his passion for adventure. A life of merit is not measured by ones accomplishments, but rather the road traveled to get there. The same can be said for the cigar business. I have enjoyed the process of making these, almost as much as I have enjoyed smoking them. In the creation of cigars and stories there are similarities. You want your audience to feel fulfilled and fall in love. Whether it’s with a character who will influence their life, or a cigar that will accompany it,” said Rob Weiss.

The BG Meyer Standard Issue is a 100% Nicaraguan blend hand-built by AgroIndustrias Laepe S.A., in Danli, Honduras. The cigar is a medium to full intensity smoke featuring five different tobaccos that have aged for up to 8 years. Available in five popular formats, the Standard Issue is packed in boxes of twenty cigars and will retail from $8 to $10.

Standard Issue will begin shipping to retailers in select markets on Monday, June 30th.

Rob Weiss is an American film and television director/writer/producer. Weiss was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Baldwin, Long Island, as well as The Five Towns. He attended the Parsons School of Design, studying fashion and film. Working his way through school as a club promoter on Long Island and New York City, he threw parties at some of NYC’s most legendary venues: Palladium, Tunnel, Limelight, the MilkBar and Heartbreaks.

Weiss’s first film was 1993’s Sundance hit Amongst Friends, which he wrote and directed. The film was nominated for the festival Grand Jury Prize and lost the audience award by a decimal point to Robert Rodriguez’s ‘El Mariachi’. Rob went on to write and produce numerous projects including HBOs Entourage, How To Make It In America and currently Ballers, starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and directed by Pete Berg.

Weiss has been the subject of two New York Times Arts and Leisure profiles. In an August 2007 New York Observer interview with Entourage’s Doug Ellin, he confirmed that Weiss was the basis for the character of Billy Walsh, a perfectionist filmmaker who was a recurring character on the Entourage series. Ellin even asked Weiss to play “Walsh,” but Weiss declined. Instead, the role went to Rhys Coiro, to whom Weiss bears little outward resemblance.

Weiss is also currently producing a mini series adaptation of the novel ‘Pimp’ by Iceberg Slim for HBO and is writing/directing ‘Hells Angel’ for Fox 2000, a feature film chronicling the early days of the legendary motorcycle club and it’s visionary patriarch, Ralph ‘Sonny’ Barger.
